Hi, I’m Nicky
The person behind the beautiful chaos.
I’m a mixed-media artist, creative educator, storyteller, and professional noticer of the things most people hurry past.
I make layered art from paint, paper, fabric, thread, found objects, Scripture, questions, and whatever else happens to follow me to the table. I also create welcoming ways for other people to make, explore, and discover that creativity was theirs all along.
Why Hot Mess Art exists
Creativity was never supposed to be another performance.
For a long time, creativity was treated like something reserved for the naturally talented, the properly trained, or the people who could produce something polished enough to share. I don’t believe that.
I believe making helps us pay attention. It gives stories somewhere to land. It helps us process what we cannot always explain and notice where grace has been hiding in plain sight.
Hot Mess Art is permission to begin before you feel ready. It is a place for experiments, honest stories, strange materials, imperfect pages, deep questions, and ideas that are still becoming.
My faith runs through all of it—not as a demand to arrive with tidy answers, but as a trust that God is present in the process, the questions, the scraps, and the unfinished places too.
