I Was Just Clearing the Table

An ADHD domestic odyssey in six photographs.

I’m going to clear the table from dinner.

Better empty the dishwasher so I can add the new dirty dishes.

Oh look, the new box of cereal needs to go in the plastic container.

Save the cardboard for class.

I need to email the principal to see when I can set up my classroom because I’m sorting supplies.

Half the supplies are for this weekend’s Y’Art Sale.

Oooh, tea would be fun in some of the analog bags. I wonder what I have that isn’t opened?

Nope, this tea is past its best-by date.

Eh, I bet it could still make decent cold brew.

Oh look, the plastic pitcher that I put sangria in a few weeks ago is sitting here.

I should make the cold brew.

Oh crap, I was emptying the dishwasher so I could clean up from dinner.

Didn’t put the remaining tea bags away.

Pause!

I have to address the crying child to see if the cut on her ankle means I need to cut off her foot with a sharp knife, or just get her antiseptic gel and a Band-Aid.

Field dress ankle.

Empty two more dishes from the dishwasher.

Look around and realize how hilarious my mind is.

Take photo evidence.

Sit down and type this.

The dishes still aren’t done.

The leftovers are still on the table.

Anyone else start with one simple task and somehow end up three rooms away, holding a tea bag, solving a medical emergency, and wondering what happened?

Tell me where your brain took you today.
